Session Seven
After resting from the previous days adventure, the Worthy Blades bid farewell to the monks and the caravaneers at Dawnsrest and set out on the High Road to Eveningstar. Along the way, the group contemplated the implications of their adventure, and around midday, decided to stop at a caravan way station dedicated to Shaundakaul, the Wind Lord and patron deity of travelers. After many of them made lavish donations to the blind priest who tended the campground, the Blades entered the carnival atmosphere of the way stop.
While there, Elwrynn put on a sterling performance on the green, earning the ire of the other entertainers who had set up shop. Ka'mil endeavored to sell his small painting of Briar Rose, which earned her the unwelcome attentions of a florid, fat Sembian lech named Haerdral of Ordulin, a purveyor of fineries, including some "exotic" art. Ka'mil's "paid matchmaking" between the merchant and Briar Rose earned him a ringing slap for his efforts.
After a short rest, the party pressed on the rest of the day to the idyllic town of Eveningstar, hard upon the banks of the Starwater River. The town they discovered was a dream upon summer twilight, all small cottages, cozy shops, and lush orchards. After arranging lodgings at one of the town's inns, the Lonesome Tankard, and meeting the proprietor, one Dunman Kiriag, they proceeded to find the Lady Lord of the region, Tessaril Winter. They found Lady Winter conducting a play about Azoun I, written by one of the children of the town, a girl named Rissa, at the Low Lantern, a theater, restaurant, and festhall owned by an exotic Amnian woman named Mhair "Iron Eyes".
During dinner with the Lady Lord, the Worthy Blades discussed any troubles in the region, as well as the history of the Haunted Halls and the personal history of the formation of the Blades. They found out that there have been increased troll sightings in the Starwater Gorge to the north of the town, near to the Haunted Halls. She explained that she has requested an increase in the guard patrol, but that reinforcements have not yet arrived from Arabel. She told the Blades about several adventuring parties' previous forays into the Haunted Halls, including the fabled Knights of Myth Drannor, who routed a cabal of mysterious wizards from some of the passages three years back, and that one of their number, a priest of Lathander named Jelde Asturian, now lives in the local temple of Lathander.
